Designers tend to focus quickly on materials when it comes to circular design. It is therefore important that we choose or design our materials in such a way that they cause as little damage as possible to our living environment. This case of Bio Bound provides guidance for informed material selection for sustainable and circular applications.
Bio Bound makes bio-based and circular concrete with a very low environmental impact. The concrete contains a combination of old concrete and elephant grass, which previously served to keep geese away from Schiphol Airport.
There is so much concrete in the country that is going to age at some point: a huge treasure trove waiting to be applied. Only you have to look at it differently. See it not as waste, but as a residual product, a raw material that you can reuse.
